Mid-Atlantic HEMA Gathering

mid-at10

The event was a big success. We are planning another event around the same time for 2011, in January. Information is forthcoming!

Sponsored by Maryland KDF and the HEMA Alliance

January 30, 2010*
8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
(Doors open at 8:00)

Maryland KDF and the HEMA Alliance proudly extend an open invitation to any and all HEMA/WMA practitioners, groups, schools, and clubs for a day of workshops, free sparring, and an informal tournament.

Instructors from different clubs and schools throughout the mid-Atlantic region will present classes on German longsword, Bolonese sword and buckler, Italian rapier, dagger, and more. Intermediate/advanced and beginner-level workshops will be available for participants of all skill levels.

The ultimate purpose of this gathering is to bring the Virginia/Maryland and broader east-coast HEMA community to one place to meet, share ideas, and facilitate the establishment of a concrete HEMA “scene” in the region.
Watch this website or subscribe to event updates by sending an email to marylandkdf@gmail.com for the latest information on confirmed classes and instructors. Required and suggested equipment will also be posted as more information is available.

Tournament weapons and rules will be finalized by January 15th. We extend an open invitation for judges and proposed weapon-sets (e.g., Longsword, Rapier, Dussack, etc.). This will be a trial-run for the tournament rules used March 19-21 at the US’s largest HEMA tournament at the WMAC/HEMA Alliance International Gathering in Houston, Texas.
